Building a Legacy of Leadership

My goal and vision for the Wells County Sheriff’s Department is to build a team of legacy-minded law enforcement professionals who are committed to excellence and selfless service — to one another and to our community.

I will dedicate significant time to succession and legacy planning, focusing on the development of future leaders within the department. My desire is to position the Wells County Sheriff’s Department to succeed and thrive for the next 15 to 20 years by providing leadership and management training to those who demonstrate the ability, desire, and skill set to excel as future leaders.

Supporting & Developing Our Deputies

A strong department depends on strong leadership. I will develop a command staff that is committed to supporting the deputies under their supervision — leaders who motivate others, build confidence, and encourage excellence in every role.

When we invest in our deputies, we invest in the safety and strength of Wells County as a whole.

Justice for All

I am firmly committed to the belief that the law — its enforcement and its consequences — must apply equally to everyone, regardless of race, sex, religion, nationality, name, title, or position.  This principle is the foundation upon which true justice for all can be achieved.

Combating Illegal Drugs

It is well known that illegal drugs directly impact the crime rates of a community.
To address this, I will:

  • Strengthen drug interdiction efforts throughout Wells County

  • Fully support the Drug Task Force and its critical mission

  • Revive the K9 program to assist in detecting illegal substances and apprehending offenders

Together, these efforts will help protect our neighborhoods and reduce the influence of drugs in our community.

Improving Traffic & Public Safety

Public safety is a cornerstone of a strong community. I will direct deputies to focus on individuals who endanger others by:

  • Failing to stop for school bus arms

  • Running red lights and stop signs

  • Driving recklessly at dangerous speeds

By addressing these violations, we can reduce traffic complaints and accidents and promote greater safety in our neighborhoods and on our roadways.

Jail Operations and Management

Jail operations are a critical component of public safety and accountability. I will focus on strengthening correctional staffing, training, and leadership by:

  • Ensuring Correction Officers are adequately staffed and properly trained

  • Providing officers with the tools, resources, and equipment needed to perform their duties safely

  • Maintaining a secure environment for both staff and inmates

  • Reviewing Jail Command Staff training and leadership preparedness​

 

By prioritizing professional leadership, staffing, and training, we can create a safer, more secure correctional facility that supports staff, protects inmates, and upholds the standards our community expects.
