Family, Faith & Community

I was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, by Christian parents who taught me the value of faith, hard work, and service. After moving to Wells County more than 20 years ago, my wife, Barbara, and I made this great community our home.

We have been active members of Hope Missionary Church for many years, and our faith continues to guide every part of our lives. We strive daily to honor Christ in how we live, lead, and serve others.

Education

Education has always been an important part of my journey.  I hold a Master of Science in Criminal Justice from The University of Cincinnati and a Bachelor's Degree in Music.

I've also completed specialized executive leadership and management training through:

  • The Southern Police Institute

  • The Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas at Sam Houston State University

  • The International Association of Chiefs of Police-Leading by Legacy Program

These experiences have shaped my leadership philosophy-one centered on integrity, accountability, and preparing others to lead well.

Dedicated to Service

I’ve spent my entire adult life serving others through law enforcement. Over the past 31 years, my career has taken me across three states — California, Texas, and Indiana — giving me the opportunity to lead and learn in a wide variety of communities. Nearly 20 of those years were spent as Chief of Police in both Texas and Indiana, most recently right here at the Ossian Police Department.

Since being elected in 2022, I’ve also had the honor of serving as Lancaster Township Trustee. This role has deepened my connection to the people of Wells County and strengthened my desire to see our community continue to grow, thrive, and remain safe for generations to come.

My Vision

My vision for the Wells County Sheriff’s Department is to build a lasting legacy — one defined by excellence, teamwork, and service to both our deputies and the citizens we protect.

I believe in developing future leaders through mentorship, training, and succession planning so that our department can continue to thrive for the next 15 to 20 years.

As Sheriff, my top priorities will be to:

  • Combat illegal drugs through strong interdiction efforts and a revitalized K-9 program

  • Support the Wells County Drug Task Force and strengthen partnerships with surrounding agencies

  • Enhance traffic safety by targeting reckless driving, speeding, and failure to stop for school buses and signals

  • Develop a command staff committed to supporting deputies and motivating them toward excellence

At the heart of everything I do is a simple belief: the law must apply equally to everyone. Justice cannot be selective — it must be fair, firm, and consistent.

Building a Legacy of Excellence

My goal as Sheriff is to lead a department that reflects the values of our community — faith, family, service, and integrity — while ensuring that Wells County remains a safe and welcoming place to live, work, and raise a family.

It would be an honor to serve as your next Sheriff. I’m ready to bring my experience, leadership, and vision to this role — and I would be grateful for your support on May 5th, 2026.
